Our History

Bellingen preschool is located in the Shire of Bellingen, country north coast region, within walking distance of the township of Bellingen.

The building was donated by Bellingen Council and located on crown land, but operated by a management committee for the past 40 years, reflecting the diversity and needs of our community.

The building is of historical importance, originally opened by the Education Department being the first school building in Bellingen, to the present site in 1976. Over the years, the community has donated time, effort, skills to fund-raise for improvements, including adding a much needed verandah in 1994, renovated children’s bathroom, new kitchen and storage cupboards and extensive redesign of the outdoor play space – shade coverings, sandpit, bike track, soft fall areas and shade trees planted.
